Corrine May's Song Lyrics
I'm not the easiest person to love
I'm often the one who lets things go unresolved
Yet you choose to be
On the side of me
On the side of me
Yet you choose to be on the side of me
On the side of me
I'm not too proud of some things
I've done in my life
The skeletons in my closet
Are too big for me to hide
Yet you choose to be
On the side of me
On the side of me
Blessed Charity
You're on the side of me
On the side of me
What's wrong, whats getting you down
Is it something I might have said?
You're walking around
with your head to the ground
and your eyes are watery red
I know you've been through rough times
Kicked around, thrown to the ground
but you've always been the strong one
So don't tell me that nobody gets you
'cause I'm standing in your corner
Knocking at tour door
You don't have to be alone

Corrinne May was born as Corrinne Foo May Ying. She is studied in Raffles Girls' Primary School, Raffles Girls' School (Secondary) and Raffles Junior College. She later majored in mass communications and English literature at the National University of Singapore. Corrinne left Singapore to further her music education at the Berklee College of Music, where she majored in songwriting and film scoring. In order to pursue her dreams in music, she moved to Los Angeles in 1999.
Corrinne co-wrote the song "If You Didn't Love Me" with the legendary songwriters Carole King and Carole Bayer Sager as part of her winning entry in a songwriting competition on the music industry website Tonos.com. Carole King & Carole Bayer Sager wrote the lyric for the song and entertained submissions for the best musical accompaniment and melody. Corrinne's version was the winner. The song is featured on Corrinne's debut album. Corrinne has met Carole Bayer Sager but not Carole King.
Her song "Journey" was featured on the Taiwanese drama Dolphin Bay Lovers and was covered by popular Asian singers Angela Zhang and Gigi Leung.
Corrinne's cover version of the Burt Bacharach classic "Close to You" was featured prominently in the movie So Close released by Columbia-Tristar films (2002).
In September 2004, Corrinne May became the first (and only) artist singing exclusively in English, to be signed by the record label Forward Music in Taiwan, which distributes her music to Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and China.

Safe in a Crazy World (2005)
Two songs from Corrinne's second album, "Save Me" and "Everything in its Time", were featured in Channel 5's hit television series Chase, which ran from March to May 2005. Chase arguably propelled Corrinne May from relative obscurity to an unprecedented level of recognition in Singapore.
Fly Away (originally named Corrinne May) -released in 2001
"Combines the haunting otherworldliness of artists like Sarah McLachlan and Sting with the open veracity of Joni Mitchell...May's voice is instantly intoxicating...this is a touching, enchanting record." ---Clay Steakley, Performing Songwriter Magazine.
Safe in a Crazy World - released in 2005
With this second independent release on Pink Armchair Records, Corrinne May is stirring the spiritual longings and grabbing the heartstrings of her thousands of fans yet again. Born and raised in Singapore, educated at Berklee College of Music, and making a huge splash the previous few years on the L.A. indie pop/rock scene and beyond, May is truly a citizen of the world. Two continents specifically, as the spiritual-minded, ethereal-voiced artist's 2001 self-titled debut scored both in the U.S. -- where she won the New Folk Award at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas -- and later throughout her native Asia upon distribution deals in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and her home island of Singapore. While her debut featured mostly introspective songs that chronicled her years as a songwriting and film scoring major at Berklee -- touching on the themes of loneliness, isolation, and finding her creative and spiritual purpose -- Safe in a Crazy World reflects a more upbeat, optimistic, and settled vibe. She finds clever ways to work her deep spiritual beliefs into the lyrically rich, emotionally compelling piano- and vocal-driven tapestry of the ten songs, including "Save Me," "Everything in Its Time," and "Angel in Disguise." Other standout tracks include "Little Superhero Girl" (which was literally inspired by the Powerpuff Girls cartoon) and "Every Beat of My Heart," a gentle, anthemic reminder to live in the present moment. ~ Jonathan Widran, All Music Guide
Beautiful Seed -released in 2007 by Warner Music
Choice Cut : ''On The Side Of Me,'' ''Shelter,'' ''Beautiful Seed,'' ''33,'' ''Five Loaves And Two Fishes''
She is more than Singapore's answer to Sarah McLachlan. Six years since her debut, Corrinne May releases her fourth album Beautiful Seed and has come into a sound of her own.
Beautiful Seed showcases 13 songs (the longest Corrinne May album yet). Undeniably a highlight, the first single "On The Side Of Me" has a soaring chorus and is filled with heartrending emotions.
Other gems include "Shelter" and the title song "Beautiful Seed," which are destined to be radio favorites. "Beautiful Seed" is the most intricate song that Corrinne May has ever written. Known for incorporating stories in her songs, Corrinne May evokes positive feelings as she sings "There is hope in every heartbeat/Tiny as it seems/You're a beautiful seed."
Being a devout Catholic, Corrinne May sings of her religion in "33" and "Five Loaves And Two Fishes" -- a personal favorite of the album. And I'm not even affiliated with the religion.
Corrinne May excels at what she does best by writing songs that touch the soul. With the help of her husband/musical director/producer Kavin Hoo, Beautiful Seed is definitely her best album to date.
